Precision Meteorological Hygrometer: PMH-2006

The Model PMH-2006 Precision Meteorological Hygrometer is a precision ambient dew/frost point measuring system with chilled mirror dew point sensor for outdoor or indoor test chamber applications. It provides the highest accuracy available on the market. Dew point temperatures above 0°C are determined to an accuracy of ±0.2°C, while frost point temperatures down to -70°C have an accuracy of ±0.5°C, using an intelligent, CPU-managed chilled mirror dew/frost point hygrometer sensor. Above 0°C, the hygrometer tracks the dew point temperature; below 0°C, it tracks the frost point temperature. Sensitivity ±0.01°C. Slew rate typically 1.5°C/second. Zero hysteresis. CPU utilizing DSP technology performs continuous, automatic, and unattended ambient dew point measurements, and performs a daily heat cycle. 0-5Vdc analog and digital RS-232 interfaces. NIST traceable.

Chilled Mirror Hygrometer Information

The measurement of the water vapor content of a gas by the dew-point technique involves chilling a surface, usually a metallic mirror, to the temperature at which water on the mirror surface is in equilibrium with the water vapor pressure in the gas sample above the surface. At this temperature, the mass of water on the surface is neither increasing (too cold a surface) nor decreasing (too warm a surface).

Chilled Mirror Hygrometers Sampling & Accuracy

The absolute accuracy of the condensation-type (chilled mirror) hygrometer is exceeded only by the gravimetric train, an elaborate absorption system maintained as the primary standard for humidity measurements. Over the mid-range of dew point temperatures (±40°C), the uncertainties of chilled mirror hygrometer measurements are in the order of one part in 100.
